Are you considering a career in horticulture and would like to learn more about the nuts and bolts of setting up as a self employed gardener? Or perhaps you've recently made that leap and would like to improve your confidence in running your business?
This online workshop guides you through the process of becoming self-employed including:
- How being self employed can readdress your work/life balance
- Gaining qualifications and practical experience through volunteering
- Combining self-employment with an employed role; where to find jobs and successful applications
- Setting your rates and considering costs
- Advertising your business
- Purchasing tools and equipment
- Managing your finances and completing your self-assessment
- Insurance: where to get it and what type to get
- Where to find further advice and support.
The workshop will take place on Zoom and participants will be given full joining details once they have purchased their ticket.
Your workshop host Merryn has been in the Horticulture industry for many years, working as an employed and self employed gardener and for organisations including the National Trust and RHS. She lives in Somerset and delivers horticulture workshops online and in person, as well as looking after private gardens in the local area.
