Hopin' Mic: A Comedy & Storytelling Open Mic for Causes in Need

Join us at BloomBars in Washington, DC every Thursday for a night of stand-up comedy geared towards making the world a better and more hilarious place!

Each show will feature national touring comedians and local up-and-comers alike, all working out new (or new-ish) material that's largely geared towards lefty causes that Grassroots Comedy supports through its regular comedy-for-a-cause showcases (climate justice, racial equity, immigrant rights, women's rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, etc.). The show serves as a platform for comics to audition to perform on those shows (think of it as a progressive joke incubator of sorts), with plenty of irrelevant hilarity mixed in.

This is a donation based event. Having recently transitioned to a non-profit organization, proceeds will go towards Grassroots Comedy, and our ongoing efforts to use comedy as a vehicle for engagement, education, and support of causes in a time of need.

So grab your woke friends (maybe even your annoying overly crunchy friend Sky who thinks essential oils cure everything) and your non-woke friends who could benefit from some comedic perspective, and end your week right with a night of hilarity in the name of making the world a better place through laughter!

*Note that BloomBars is an alcohol-free establishment, but your ticket will get you discounted drinks at Buddy's DC (2 doors down at 3234 11th St NW) -- so get your drink on before and/or after the show, should you like!
