About this Event
Hope Is a Verb: How Advocacy Changes Queer Futures is a powerful, heart-forward presentation that reframes hope as something we do, not something we wait for. Grounded in both urgency and possibility, the talk moves from a rallying call to Protect the Kids. Protect the Dolls. Protect the Queers. into the real, lived landscape of LGBTQ+ youth mental health—naming the harm of isolation and the life-saving power of affirmation.
Through story, data, and practical examples, the presentation breaks down what advocacy actually looks like at the personal, community, and systemic levels, reminding audiences that you don’t need a title to make change. It closes by offering hope as a daily practice—listening, learning, acting, and reflecting—and invites each listener to write their own advocacy story. The message is clear and galvanizing: you don’t have to change the whole world—just one person’s world. Every time you show up, you change the future.
Our meetings are free, but we do pay a discounted room rental fee. If you’re able, contributing $5–$10 per meeting (cash or Venmo) helps us keep meeting in this wonderful space. Thank you for making it possible!
