What to expect?

Being well-connected yet socially isolated is one of the quiet paradoxes of our time. This event will focus on sharing the group's individual international experiences and cultures as a way to build bridges and connect more deeply.

In this month's edition, we'll specifically focus on the music that speaks to us. Perhaps we carry a song that reminds us of our youth or there are specific lyrics that we turn to when we need to feel uplifted. We will collect a catalogue of songs from different cultures and share why they are meaningful.

Expect a mix of light-hearted interaction and deeper dialogue, all held in a welcoming, respectful and safe space. You don’t need to prepare anything, just bring your curiosity and openness.

We strive to bring people from diverse backgrounds together and be the melting pot of perspectives, experiences, and voices. In this event, the idea is to meet new people but meeting them with a deeper understanding of who they are and how their background has come to shape them.

Snacks and drinks will be available on a donation basis, which funds the library.

We will host this event at the perfect setting for such a discussion!

New World Bordel is an independent, self-funded bookstore/library focused specifically on an international audience with a collection of books in 9 different languages (and growing).

In a world where information and culture are often manipulated, New World Bordel fights for the right to reading, free access to culture, and objective, truthful information.

Agenda

Opening & Welcome
🕑: 07:05 PM
Interactive Games

Info: We will borrow warm-up exercises from the art of storytelling. We will use play as way to introduce ourselves to each other, use our brains in a different way, and create the right environment for deeper conversations.

🕑: 07:15 PM
Circle Conversations

Info: These facilitated questions will allow each participant to share more about their own experiences and offer new cultural insights to the rest of the group. These may be questions that allow us to reflect more on our own backgrounds or share thoughts we've carried but haven't had the right environment in which to vocalize them. It gives other participants the opportunity to learn things about other cultures that they otherwise would never discover without diving into these topics.

🕑: 09:00 PM
Time to Chat/Connect

Info: This will be time to freely chat with any other participant with whom you'd like to continue the conversation.
