We welcome you to join us on May 15th for Grand Arts Dance Academy's dance 'til dusk, a site-specific dance performance at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, nestled near the Chinatown and Elysian Park neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
We are thrilled to share another exciting cycle of youth-initiated programming, featuring four new student works with fourteen dance artists. Led by Diana Delcambre (Dance Department Chair at Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual & Performing Arts) and inSITE Teaching Artist Patrick Fitzsimmons, the Dance Academy students come together to present a medley of new performance works in response to the architecture, landscape, ethos, and history of the LA State Historic Park.
Performances are approximately 30 minutes long and run every half hour starting at 5:30 PM (5:30, 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00). Please select your preferred time slot when making your reservation.
Please check in with homeLA staff at our welcome table located near the main parking lot. There, you will receive a show program and a site map to guide your experience. This is a mobile performance; the audience will move between different locations throughout the park to view the pieces. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and being prepared for light travel across the park's landscape.

Additional Details: homeLA is an experimental performance platform that uses the ideas of home to critically engage with the sites, histories, and narratives of Los Angeles to reveal the complexity and intersectionality of the city—past, present, and future. Our multidisciplinary programs bridge the diverse fields of experimental dance, art, and architecture through provocative programs that foreground underrepresented narratives, identities, and cultures in an exchange with Los Angeles’ built environment, both public and private.

inSITE is homeLA’s immersive after-school master program in site-specific dance for high school students enrolled in dance programs in public high schools.

Notice of filming: homeLA events require proximity and are intimate events that include video recording and photo for documentation and accessibility purposes.

About the Park: LA State Historic Park sits on the ancestral territory of the Tongva people and serves as a sanctuary of California’s layered history, from the 18th-century Zanja Madre to the Southern Pacific Railroad’s River Station. Once an industrial railyard, the park’s 32-acre existence is a landmark victory for environmental justice and grassroots activism, now serving as a "Central Park" dedicated to civic dialogue and cultural celebration. Building on the park’s legacy of immersive public art, our performance uses site-specific dance to activate historical and environmental markers, bridging the gap between a storied past and a vibrant, community-led present.

Please visit the park's online to view various points of interest throughout the park.

Parking: There is also free street parking near the park. Please pay attention to no-parking and anti-gridlock zones. There is a fee ($2 per hour or $8 per day) for parking vehicles in the park's official parking lots. Special parking rates are as follows: seniors ($7 flat) and disabled parking ($4 flat, or free with a disabled person placard).

Accessibility: homeLA is dedicated to ensuring that our events are as accessible as possible for our disability community members and artists.

ASL Interpretation will be provided.

Accessible parking is available in the public parking lot entered from N Spring Street, which provides an path of travel to the Welcome Pavilion and restrooms.

Performances will take place in landscaped areas with paths made of grass, dirt, and gravel. These surfaces are selected to be accessible for visitors using walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility devices. If you need help identifying the best paths to navigate the site, please don't hesitate to ask us for assistance.

Health: In fostering a community of care, we ask that you keep the following in mind: This event will be held outdoors. Please mask at your own discretion. If you are feeling sick at all, we ask that you please stay home.

homeLA's inSITE supports students from the Dance Academy at Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual & Performing Arts and is produced in partnership with the Los Angeles State Historic Park and Los Angeles Unified School District. This program is supported by a California Arts Council Creative Youth Development Grant. Learn more at www.arts.ca.gov. homeLA is fiscally sponsored by Fulcrum Arts.
