Description

Singer/songwriter Kimmie Rhodes will kick off the last class of our twelve month series with her inimitable style. Kimmie's sidekick and mentor in all things Italian, Corky Hilliard, will share the recipe for a very special tuna casserole and Jaston Williams of Greater Tuna will join Kimmie as his infamous Renaissance Chicken character to crack jokes (and eggs).

Amid the merriment, you'll pick up tips on cooking that will make your weeknight meals a breeze and enjoy a lovely meal in support of a great cause.

For ages 18 & up. 21 or older? You'll enjoy a glass of Italian wine paired with your meal.

ABOUT HOME (Housing Opportunities for Musicians and Entertainers)

HOME, formed by a group of concerned women in Austin, is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, non-profit organization that strives to create more security for aging musicians of the Austin music scene by providing financial grant assistance, including referrals to available resources. This monthly series will help the performers who put Austin on the musical map by making sure that they have secure housing and can keep us entertained. Your support will make a huge difference right here in Austin.

ABOUT Kimmie Rhodes, Corky Hilliard, and Jaston Williams

Native Texan Kimmie Rhodes has an array of skills from songwriting to gourmet cooking, playwriting to humorist, documentarian to ambassador, and more. In her three- decade plus career, the Austin based singer-songwriter has released 16 solo albums; written and produced three musicals; published a novella-cookbook and a memoir; and written many multi-platinum songs which have been recorded by such stellar artists as Willie Nelson; Wynonna Judd; Trisha Yearwood; Amy Grant; CeCe Winans; Joe Ely; Waylon Jennings; Peter Frampton; Mark Knopfler; and Emmylou Harris.

Corky Hilliard. At the knee of her Italian grandmother, Caesarea Luigia Contri, who emigrated to America in 1908 from the Emilia Romagna area of Italy, Corky Hilliard learned to cook the classics at an early age - tortellini in brodo; bagna cauda, and many other regional specialties. She still takes annual trips to visit and cook with her family, who are now located in Modena and Bologna, to test her recipes and make sure that they remain authentic. Those trips have evolved into many new and interesting food adventures including her biennial trips to Venice for New Year's Eve.

Jaston Williams is a humorist, playwright, actor, director, producer, essayist, and novelist. He is best known as the co-author and co-actor of The Greater Tuna quartet of plays. Williams' performances have played on and off Broadway at the Kennedy Center, the Edinburgh International Arts Festival, the Spoleto Festival U.S.A, and all over America. He received the L.A. Dramalogue Award for both Greater Tuna and A Tuna Christmas.
