About this Event
Maternal Mortality, Mental Health, and Collective Care for Women of Color examines the disproportionate impact of maternal mortality and mental health challenges on women of color. This workshop explores the systemic, social, and structural factors that contribute to these inequities while centering lived experiences and community knowledge. Participants will discuss culturally responsive and healing-centered approaches to maternal care, with a focus on collective care and advocacy. The workshop also highlights the vital role of doulas in supporting birthing people through emotional, physical, and informational care, advocating within healthcare systems, and helping reduce disparities in maternal outcomes. Participants will leave with greater awareness and practical tools to support maternal well-being through community-based and collective care efforts.
