Knowing our history can help us to understand the present. For about 800 years, Sweden was a deeply Christian country, and up to the sixteenth century it was Catholic. Today, Sweden is one of the most secularised countries in the world. How did this come about? And what does this mean for faith in Sweden today?Next Sunday, Fr. Dominik Terstriep SJ will present us the broad lines of Swedish church history and thus enable us to better understand the situation of believers in Sweden today. The evening will be particularly enlightening for those of us who did not grow up in Sweden. But also for those who went to school here, the Catholic perspective on Sweden's history may hold surprises. A warm invitation to lecture and discussion!
As always, we will begin at around 7.15 pm after the English-language evening mass with a fika and end the evening with Compline at around 9.15 pm. If you have friends who are interested in the topic, please don't hesitate to bring them along!
