La Carole
”During a journey to a village, I encountered an elderly couple engaged in a conversation about the discovery of a small lake where one can dive among jellyfish. Among the jellyfish, they also discovered something that they could best describe as magical sea creatures, including a being made out of two blades of grass that rose from the depths of the sea and weaved flowers and plants, like thistles, across the surface of the water”. — Rebecka Tollens.
The blades of grass flicker through the exhibition, which portrays a rite of passage through the medieval ring dance La Carole — not as a visible motif, but as a quiet rhythm that lingers beneath the three works, shaping their stages through memory and rhythm, central themes in Tollens’s artistry.
