About this Event
Take a Walk through the Historic Old Town District in Decatur, Alabama. Old Town in Decatur, Alabama, is the city's original 1820s settlement, formerly known as Rhodes Ferry Landing, which served as a crucial river and rail hub. Heavily destroyed during the Civil War, it emerged post-reconstruction as a vibrant African American community centered around Vine Street. It is recognized for its historic role in civil rights, early black businesses, and as the location of the first black Alderman. Peggy Towns will walk you through the rich history, funny tales, and historic sites. See sites from Historic Churches, to the new CEOTA Civil Rights Museums that are currently under remodel.
