The department store that shaped generations of South Australians before its closure in 1998. Join author and historian Paul Flavel for a walk down memory lane as he revisits the magic, the traditions, and the community spirit that made “Johnnies” an Adelaide icon.
Paul will share the story behind creating his book and reflect on why the memories of John Martin’s continue to shine so brightly after all these years.
About the author:
Paul Flavel is a first time author whose book on John Martin’s was inspired by his childhood in Adelaide, especially the treasured trips to town visiting the department stores with his Grandma. Those early memories sparked a lifelong affection for “Johnnies” and ultimately led him to capture its story as a book.
