About this Event
Between the commute, the work, the weekend errands and the group chats about "we should do something", the museum sits there on Chatham Road quietly holding 6,000 years of stories that most of us walk straight past.
On 30th May, we're actually going.
The Plan
We meet at 3:30pm at Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station, Exit P2. We walk together to the Hong Kong Museum of History which is about 10 minutes on foot. Entry is completely free. We spend approximately 2 hours inside, moving through at whatever pace feels right. There's no itinerary, no tour guide script, no pressure to look at everything. Just a group of people actually looking at the place they live in.
After the museum, we head for dinner at Jinfan Chaozhou Cuisine (金凡潮汕菜) on Granville Road, a vintage-styled Chiu Chow restaurant, known for its authentic slow-cooked brine dishes, oyster pancakes and satay beef noodles.
Why This
Hong Kong has no shortage of things to do on a Saturday. What it does have a shortage of is reasons to actually leave the flat and meet people who aren't already in your phone. This gathering is designed to fix that: a low-pressure, genuinely interesting afternoon. The museum visit gives you something to talk about over dinner.
Who This Is For
Anyone who wants to experience Hong Kong. Locals, expats, students, creatives, basically anyone who've been living here.
