About this Event
Join artist, photographer, and journalist Nathan Kensinger on a walk exploring the historic waterfront of Rossville along the Arthur K*ll.
The waterfront of Rossville is best known as the home of the Staten Island boat graveyard, but there is much more history hidden in this neighborhood. Join artist, photographer, and journalist Nathan Kensinger on this walk, which will explore the historic neighborhood of Rossville, on the Arthur K*ll. We will view the remnants of Winantโs Brook, one of the least-known creeks in Staten Island, and visit the old village center of Blazing Star, where historic cemeteries and Victorian-era houses tell the story of the Dutch and French immigrants who lived here 400 years ago. Rossville has been cut off from its waterfront for decades by a highway, factories, and a pair of enormous, abandoned liquified natural gas tanks. This walk will discuss ideas for reconnecting the community to the waterfront.
This walk is approximately 3 miles. Sturdy, close-toed shoes are recommended for this walk, which will involve walking over uneven ground.
