About this Event
After weeks of rumor, NPS and USDOT plan to begin tearing out the protected bike lanes on 15th Street on the Mall this Monday, March 23rd. Because this is federal land, DC and DDOT are sidelined—it’s up to us to show how much this infrastructure matters.
This is the time to take action!
Join us this Sunday afternoon (March 22nd) to ride the corridor together and show our support for this critical connection. Bring your music, bubbles, protest signs, and blossom joy. Let’s make our presence felt before the crews arrive.
We will meet at 4:00 p.m. in Lincoln Park, ride down along the National Mall to 15th Street, pause on the south lawn of the Jefferson Memorial, and then return together as a group.
Need some inspiration for your protest signs? Check out the data on how these lanes help make everyone safer here.
This ride is designed for riders of all ages and abilities, including kids, caregivers, cargo bikes, and anyone who enjoys a low‑stress group ride.
We’ll have volunteers marshaling to ensure we stay together as a group.
If your family’s bikes need some TLC, please come 15 minutes early to get some assistance–we will have bike maintenance tools available, as well as some experienced amateur bike mechanics on hand to assist.
