About this Event
The Loire river meanders through this glorious wine country for 600 miles to provide us with one of the world'sbest value and diverse regions where tradition and rule breaking go hand-in-hand whilst biodynamics and organics are routine for many growers. Of course, we absolutely adore the likes of Sancerre which has tickled our tongues for decades with racy acidity and chalk-derived minerality while Chenin Blanc has earned cult status amongst sommeliers. Laying in the complex of misty valleys, there is also a treasure trove of discoveries to be made. Many grapes are making a comeback like the uber refreshing and chillable red wines of Pineau d'Aunis; or Romorantin - a pink-skinned cousin of Chardonnay with a long history creating intense and complex wines.
The vines of the Loire often share a home with some of France's most legendary cheeses and charcuterie, so expect an evening of expert pairings as we sip and savour our way down France's longest river.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
