The Roots of Hip Hop: The Power of DJin' is a HHH workshop that explores the cultural origins of Hip Hop and it's healing foundations.
About this Event

Hip Hop was born from Black resistance, creativity, and community care.

The Roots of Hip Hop + The Power of DJing is a Hip Hop Healing workshop that explores the cultural origins of Hip Hop and the foundational role of the DJ as historian, archivist, and vibe-setter. Together, we’ll look at how Hip Hop emerged as a response to systemic oppression and how DJing became a powerful tool for storytelling, gathering, and survival.

This session blends history, music, and creative expression, inviting participants to learn, reflect, and create in a supportive, culturally grounded space.

  • The origins of Hip Hop and its roots in Black resistance
  • The role of the DJ as a cultural archivist and community connector
  • How sound, rhythm, and “the vibe” shape collective experience
  • Hip Hop as a living history and healing practice
