Photo Exhibition by George Doumani
4 May – 1 June
Assistens Cemetery in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro neighbourhood is known for its sprawling local life. This is where couples meet on their first date and where friends would chill in the grass after a concert.
For the past two years, Australian photographer George Doumani has explored local life in Assistens Cemetery, armed with his large-format analogue camera. His portrait series captures the essence of those who find moments of life within this place of rest.
The unique atmosphere of George Doumani's photographs stems from his meticulous photography technique. The images evoke a sense of timelessness, even though the subjects are clearly straight off the streets of contemporary Copenhagen.
