Here & Now
The classic line up formed in 1975, at Watchfield free festival - jammin' with Arthur Brown, and Rebop Kwaaku Ba, the percussionist with Traffic, while Stevie Winwood was throwing shapes at the back of the stage...
After an electric busking tour of France in 76, they met up with Daevid Allen, founder of Soft Machine and Gong, to form a space punk band going by the name of Planet Gong, and released the now well over 250,000 selling album "Live Floating Anarchy '77" on Charly Records.
They went on to release 2 more albums with Charly Records, both of which are still selling today, and used the advances to buy a tour bus, a PA system and lighting rig, and undertook a series of free tours throughout 78, 79 and 80, all across Europe and the UK.
In collaboration with Nik Turner of Hawkwind fame, they provided the pyramid stage, PA, lights and generators for the now legendary Stonehenge Free Festival.
With an ever evolving line-up, Here & Now are now Keith Tha Missile Bass, Mark Robson (Kangeroo Moon/The Magick Brothers) – keyboards/vocals, Steve Cassidy – drums and Tom Ashurst (China Shop Bull) - guitar and vocals.
They continue to tour, headline festivals and release albums in various formats from then until now, and are probably the best new wave space punk jazz rock reggae band in the UK, at the very least...
Be there or forever regret it!

Paradise 9
Paradise 9 are a four- piece psychedelic, proto-punk, space-rock band based in London and the South-east. Formed in 1997 by Gregg McKella, originating from singer/songwriting nights, becoming a full band they released their first album “Showtime” in 1998.
To date they have 3 studio albums, the latest ‘Science Fiction Reality’, released in April 2021 on Flicknife Records, and previously with ‘Showtime’ (1998) and ‘Take Me to the Future’ (2013), a live CD ‘Live at the Amersham Arms 2014’, a DVD ‘Live at On-board the Craft 2013’ and their 20th Anniversary 1997 ~ 2017 CD.
“Their music brings a chilled yet punchy approach to the rock genre sound taking inspiration from psychedelic and progressive bands like Pink Floyd, Gong, and Hawkwind, while fusing proto and post punk from the Ramones through to the Clash, and the Psychedelic Furs.”
They have played many great festivals including Glastonbury Festival, A New Day Festival, Cambridge Rock Festival, Bearded Theory, Kozfest, Green Gathering, Small World to name a few and are working on new material for their next album.
Paradise 9 are now; Gregg McKella on vocals, guitar, glissando guitar, clarinet and space FX’s (Glissando Guitar Orchestra/Judge Trev Band/Rubber Bus/ex-Nik Turner Band/ex-Image Wot Image/ex-Dreamfield) Tyrone Thomas on lead guitar and backing vocals (SpacedOgs/Timperley Sunset/ex Image Wot Image /ex-Alternative TV/ex-Convent Nuns) Neil Matthars on bass (ex-Casual Affair) & Wayne Collyer (The Golgis/ex-Deep Skin/ex-Men Are Dead) on drums.
"Challenging, deft and understated space rock for 2021 and generations beyond." - Guy Shankland - Vive Le Rock
“Tremendous space rock with an intelligent and optimistic zen-punk message” - It’s Psychedelic Baby! Magazine
" If Paradise 9 had been around back in the day, then surely their space-punk vibe would have made them great stablemates for the likes of Inner City Unit, Underground Zero, and yes, Hawkwind themselves, on the 1980s Flicknife roster. Fast forward to 2021, and how fantastic to see them join the resurgent Flicknife label now! Sharp indeed!" Ian Abrahams, RC
“…this for me is music of rock origin, hints of just about anything else that they can fit in, all wrapped around a punk vocal style that spits out its anger at the state of the planet and the human apathy toward it. Of its time music, with a conscience." Mark Cartwright – The Punk Site
