Helping women into employment

An event hosted by Wave to bring women seeking work, training and support together with people who can help them achieve success.
About this Event

The day features two identical sessions in the morning and afternoon, where women can meet experts in job coaching, free training in a variety of industries, benefits support, career guidance, interview skills, CV preparation, current vacancies and more.

Who'll be there and what support will be on offer?

  • If you don't know what kind of work you'd be best suited to you can take part in a free Buzz Workshop from the National Careers Service which will help you understand which sorts of industries would suit your personality.
  • Listen to how Smart Works North East provides interview counselling and even makeovers to prepare women for that key interview opportunity.
  • You can also see a webinar from confidence and resilience coach Laura Thomson-Staveley who'll share practical tools and techniques that help women feel included, capable and ready to take the next step towards their goals.
  • Talk to New College Durham about their fully funded training courses in a variety of key industries in the area. Learn about the courses available to you and maybe find one that could help you up the ladder in your career.
  • Talk to employers who are currently looking for staff.
