About this Event
yes!-your maths is right on the money! We are on the cusp of our 120th year. And its shaping up to be a year of special significamce.
Since its formantion the club has a history of helping others and back in the day benificiries included the Glasgow Eye Infirmary, both Victoria and Sick Childrens Hospitals, the Red Cross and -would you believe it-the Childrens Fresh Air Fortnight! And this rich history of giving has been deepened with the absolute undeniable discovery of the clubs birthright -that the club and clubhouse are situated within the epicentre of world football as we know it today. And we are on course, along with our trusted partners, to secure world heritage status to preserve= for the present= and for the future=this historic building and its rich and singlarly uniuque legacy!!!
So-back to the here and now. A storm blew the roof of the "womens section" a while back and we are seeking to raise the sum of £500- a sum which will help the club move forward to a fully costed restoration that would meet the exacting standards of a "listed building".
This planned restoration would in effect "future proof" what we have and allow us to continue our charitable work- to continue to engage with and enrich the local community (and beyond) and develop further as a hub for acessable sport, skills and learning in partnership with others who share our ethos.
So- yes! In this case charity does indeed begin at home and £500 is what is required. To help us raise that we have ....fresh from their debut gig to a full house at The Glad Cafe- the local pool of musical talent that is-
Lily Bell Penny and her Band.....variously described as "music that combines elements of folk, choral harmonies and electric layers"...they create a delicate yet ominous collection of music"....
plus not 1.. not 2 ..but 3 DJs namely
-Kenji Kenji ( co-curator of Glasgow Goes Pop) .. and a pair on non-identical- musical- twins seperated at birth ....i.e. Arthur and Derek ( who have amassed over 10,000 tunes and counting.) Plus a fire pit, vegi and vegan snacks and a very very very competative priced bar!
ps if youy cant make it along please give us your donation via the Just Giving link and save the buying of tickets for the paying public so we can have a houseful of happy campers!!!
