Course Description:
Are you ready for a paint party with intention? Join Athaliah and Katie for a restorative experience! heART & Yoga Reflections are created to help deepen your connection with self through harnessing creative expression, mindful yoga and profound meditation. These sessions are open to everyone – no prior painting or yoga experience is needed. We invite you to broaden your practice with open minds and hearts as we explore the theme of non-attachment together.
Non-Attachment:
What are you holding on to? Belongings? Thoughts? Expectations? Outcomes? Ideals? Self-Image? Other people? Letting go creates space for what is and for accepting the impermanence of it all.
What to Expect:

About Your Teachers:
Katie Beene, Co-Owner of Lotus Pond, YTT Director, E-RYT 500 / YACEP
Katie teaches her asana classes at a slow and mindful pace, weaving in philosophy and heartfelt contemplations to inspire emotional and spiritual growth. She weaves her own life experience into her teachings, sharing relatable stories and lessons that she has learned along her yoga journey. When Katie isn't teaching, she enjoys playing the piano, dancing, spending time in nature, or reading/writing. Katie believes that yoga is fully lived both on and off the mat, and hopes to inspire others to take their yoga practice everywhere they go.
Athaliah Edwards-Sedra, PMP (Project Management) & FSA (Sustainability Accounting) certified, lived in two countries and six U.S. cities before proudly making Tampa home. She creates art that draws from her life experiences often intermingled with elements of nature, inspired by her Caribbean upbringing. Her journey as an artist began by watching her dad in early years and studying 2D disciplines during college. “Home” has been a sacred space for her though listed in multiple zip codes over the years. She has a special appreciation for the impact of art and other home decor items on the way we feel.
She believes art is personal and the level of connection will change intensity from one person to another, but they are unique to lived experiences. Through her work, she aims to create pieces that help others to feel connected to their past, present or future. Her deep exploration helps to capture the essence, and her colorful brush strokes recreate thoughts, feelings and emotions with meaning. Her work ranges from evoking feelings of contentment to solemn reflection. A few examples of mediums she uses include acrylic paint, resin, wood, crystals and metal.
She is ever a student of life, and explores creative expression outside of art including dance, poetry and more recently – learning to play the harp. Creative expression, much like yoga and meditation, creates the space for her to pause and reflect, balancing the impact of everyday stressors we all encounter. She hopes to create this space for others to do the same.
