Join us for the sixteenth edition of HEAR THE MACHINE, a monthly series showcasing experimental synthesiser music, including drone, ambient, noise, and other electronic music practices being explored by artists in Naarm and the wider community.
HEAR THE MACHINE happens on the last Sunday of the month, at Nighthawks Bar - 136 Johnston street Collingwood.

The artists:
Stevie Richards is a DIY Electronics and Woodwind player and performer currently based in Naarm / Melbourne, Australia.�Stevie has toured the World playing improvised music in Europe, UK, United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan since 2014 and is an active participant in the avant-garde / improvisation environment of Melbourne. Stevie has performed in many past and ongoing ensembles Worldwide playing free jazz, ambient, noise, grindcore and electroacoustic music both as a soloist and through deliberate international collaboration.
Chloë Sobek is a composer-performer based in Naarm, Australia. Her work is currently concerned with conceptualising the more-than-human within a sonic practice, leading to a diverse enquiry of sonic and musical forms, from acoustemology through to Noise Music. She has been described as ‘an artist that is thinking deeply about how to aestheticise what’s on everyone’s mind; to use art to drive engagement with ideas whilst pushing the boundaries of technique and technicality ’ - Kieran Ruffles, 4zzz.
“Mr. Rachele initially played groove boxes for live techno sets. He then moved into the eurorack modular synth, where the experimentation began. Now, there is no single genre. Elements of techno, electro, intelligent dance music and soundscapes work together to deliver an immersive journey from the past of rapid technological progress to uncertain future dominated by machines.”
