Healthy Homes Summit: Real Estate Professionals & Homeowners

Your clients' homes are affecting their families' health. Physicians, engineers, and builders are here to talk about it.
About this Event

The home is a health decision, not just a real estate decision.

Most people spend more time researching a car purchase than understanding what their home is actually doing to their family. The air their children breathe. The moisture levels that drive mold and allergens. Whether the home will stay livable when the Texas grid goes down.

The Healthy Homes Summit brings together two Texas Children's Hospital physicians, engineers, builders, and inspectors for a single powerful day. Both real estate professionals and homeowners will leave with the knowledge to make smarter, more confident decisions about the homes they represent and the homes they live in.

This is not a sales event. It is not generic homeowner education. It is an intimate, expert-led experience built specifically for the Houston market, with real case studies, verified performance data, and practical knowledge you can use immediately.

Three of our speakers are recognized by the Build Show Network, the most respected media platform in high-performance home construction, as practitioners setting the standard for how homes should be built. You won't find this panel anywhere else in Houston.

TWO SESSIONS. ONE DAY.

Session 1 — For Real Estate Professionals | 11AM–1PM Realtors, architects, and builders working in the Houston market. This session is designed to give you the technical fluency to speak confidently about home performance, identify true quality during showings, and become the trusted advisor sophisticated buyers rely on.

Session 2 — For Homebuyers & Homeowners | 2:30–4:30PM Prospective buyers, custom home planners, and homeowners considering major renovations. This session gives you the knowledge to ask the right questions, understand what separates real quality from marketing claims, and protect both your family's health and your investment.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Real Estate Agents & Brokers Sophisticated buyers are already asking about indoor air quality, energy resilience, and construction performance. This summit gives you real answers, not talking points, and positions you as the advisor who understands what a home is truly worth.

Architects & Designers Deepen your fluency in performance standards, occupant health outcomes, and how mechanical systems integrate with high-performance envelopes.

Custom Home Builders Benchmark your practices, connect with performance-focused professionals, and hear directly from physicians about what the homes you build are doing to the families inside them.

Homebuyers & Custom Home Planners When you're making one of the largest investments of your life, you need to know what questions to ask and what the answers should sound like. This session shows you how high-performance homes are built, what red flags to watch for, and how to protect your family's health through the decisions you make before you ever move in.

Homeowners Planning Renovations Major renovations are an opportunity to get it right. Learn what the best builders and engineers prioritize and what most contractors never bring up unless you ask.

THE EXPERT PANEL

Dr. Anandita Pal — Pediatrician, Texas Children's Pediatrics
Dr. Pal brings a clinical lens to what most people never consider: the direct impact the home environment has on family health. She'll connect the medical research on indoor air quality, allergens, and environmental exposure to the construction decisions that determine what your family breathes every day.

Dr. Omar Shakeel — Pediatric Oncologist, Texas Children's Hospital | Childhood Cancer and Environment Program
Dr. Shakeel works at the intersection of pediatric oncology and environmental health. His perspective on how home environments contribute to childhood illness outcomes is unlike anything typically heard at a building or real estate event, and it reframes the entire conversation around what a home is actually for.

Ryan Rush — Owner, Brick House Design Build & High Performance HVAC Design LLC | Build Show Network Featured Builder
With a civil engineering background and deep expertise in home performance, Ryan is recognized as one of America's foremost HVAC mechanical designers. His work has been featured on the Build Show Network for achieving exceptional blower door performance in Houston, a platform that only spotlights practitioners doing the work at the highest level. He'll break down what truly right-sized, high-performance mechanical systems look like when an engineer designs them from the ground up.

Kevin McGuire — Builder, BT Grace Homes | Owner, Trucraft Mechanical | Build Show Network Featured Builder
A custom home builder serving the Greater Houston market, Kevin brings practical on-the-ground perspective on what quality construction actually requires. His work has earned recognition from the Build Show Network, and he is currently building a Phius Certified passive house with renowned architect Steve Baczek, a project that will be featured on the Build Show Network.

Jesse Hunt — Founder, Emergent Development | President, Phius Alliance Houston | CPHC, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP
One of Houston's most credentialed home performance practitioners, Jesse built Houston's first Phius Certified passive house. It is 14 times more airtight than building code with hospital-grade indoor air quality throughout. His mission is making ultra-efficient, healthy construction the standard in Houston.

Courtney Faas — Engineer & FORTIFIED Professional
With expertise engineering in industrial settings, FORTIFIED construction standards, and insurance restoration, Courtney understands what it takes to build homes that hold up against severe Houston weather and how that translates to long-term value for buyers and builders alike.

Matt Brading — Owner & Lead Inspector, Texas Edge Home Inspections | Build Pro, Build Show Network
Creator of the viral "It's Not Supposed to Do That" series and a recognized Build Show Network Build Pro, Matt has built a trusted reputation for cutting through noise and showing people exactly what construction quality looks like and what to walk away from. His reach extends well beyond Houston, but his work is rooted in it.

Energy resilience content made possible in part by our sponsor, Base Power, providing distributed battery solutions that keep Houston homes running when the grid doesn't.
