April 23: Kid-Approved Nutrition in the Classroom
Host: Michelle Weiler & Allie Richter
Info: Join with SNAP Nutrition Educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension for an engaging professional development session focused on healthy snacking in the classroom. Educators will explore affordable, nutrient-dense snack options, review cost comparisons, and learn creative, hands-on ways students can participate in building healthy habits.
This interactive session highlights how wellness in the classroom supports learning, showing how thoughtful snack choices can improve focus, energy, and overall student engagement.
Participants will also have the opportunity to sample simple, easy-to-prepare snack ideas that students are sure to enjoy.
April 30: Ready...Set...Discipline?
Host: Devin Malik Anglin
Info: This session reimagines discipline as a pathway to connection rather than punishment. Using play, creativity, and restorative practices, participants will explore trauma-informed, culturally affirming approaches that teach skills, repair relationships, and keep joy central.
Participants will:
• Define restorative discipline and identify key differences from traditional punitive models.
• Explore how movement and play can serve as healing tools during moments of behavioral intervention.
• Leave with three concrete strategies to implement joyful, restorative consequences in their learning environments.
