Join our comprehensive 5-class series specially curated to offer unparalleled insights into healthcare reimbursement. This masterclass series covers broad overviews, intricacies of coding, payment systems, and the pivotal role of clinical evidence.



This Masterclass is offered in-person at the UCSF Mission Bay campus. Each class will be followed by office hours. Remote and hybrid options are also available. Additionally, virtual attendees can have their questions addressed via email.


Class #1, October 3: Healthcare Reimbursement Overview

In this session, we're diving into the coding, coverage, and payment aspects of healthcare, backed by solid clinical evidence. Get ready to explore real-world case studies that highlight each of these areas. Whether you're new to the field or looking to deepen your understanding, this is your chance to gain insights that go beyond the surface.

Class #2, October 10: Coding Deep Dive

Uncover the secrets of coding – from various code types to the right codes for diverse reimbursement scenarios. Learn when to introduce new codes and when existing ones fit the bill. We'll delve into code vetting, gaining new codes, collaborating with specialty societies, and leveraging clinical evidence. This class will cover real-world examples and how to sidestep common pitfalls.

Class #3, October 17: Payment Systems Explored

Explore the intricate world of payment systems in healthcare, from physicians to hospitals. Unravel the process of pricing new services and procedures, navigating through new technology programs like NTAP and new tech APCs/TPT. Discover the power of clinical evidence in this realm.

Class #4, October 24: Medicare & Commercial Coverage

Delve into the world of Medicare coverage policies and procedures, locally and nationally. Discover the ins and outs of clinical evidence requirements. This class will cover the intricacies of commercial practices and their evidence criteria.

Class #5, November 7: Clinical Evidence for Reimbursement

In the final class, you will learn the essential strategies for designing robust clinical evidence that speaks volumes for reimbursement. Learn the art of developing evidence that not only supports your innovations but paves the way for successful reimbursement journeys.


About the Instructor:

Michael Beebe, Executive Vice President, ADVI

Michael is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, and leads ADVI’s device and diagnostics business lines, focusing specifically on coding, payment, and coverage strategies for physicians, hospitals, and other health care professionals.

Michael is a reimbursement and coding specialist with over 26 years of experience in the healthcare industry. With an extensive understanding of how the reimbursement system works, Michael tackles the most complex healthcare reimbursement issues, and in the process, advances progress on resolving the long-standing issue of access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.

Michael spent 14 years at the AMA; his most recent position was Director of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). He was a central participant in AMA advocacy efforts involving public and private coverage, coding and reimbursement issues; including provider class action litigation, CMS physician payment negotiations, and local coverage determinations. Previously, he was a Senior Social Scientist in Physician Payment Systems where he was primary staff to the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC).

He has a BA from Penn State University and an MA from Boston University, both in Political Science.
