Step inside what many consider the most haunted hotel in Chicago, and possibly all of Illinois. Built in 1893 for the World’s Columbian Exposition, the historic Congress Plaza Hotel has witnessed more than a century of tragedy, mystery, and unexplained activity. Over the years, guests and staff have reported chilling encounters throughout the building, from shadow figures moving through empty hallways and appearing inside closets, to disembodied voices, phantom phone calls, a woman said to haunt the Gold Room, and the unmistakable feeling of being watched. Stories of a judge known for playing pranks on guests, sightings of Al Capone’s ghost, the spirit called Peg Leg Johnny, and the infamous Room 666 are just some of the legends tied to this historic hotel. Room 441, often called the most haunted room in the building, is said to be plagued by an apparition seen standing over sleeping guests, while sightings of a young boy spirit continue to be reported on the upper floors. During this ghost hunt, you’ll investigate the same corridors where countless paranormal experiences have been documented.
