On April 4, 1968, an assassin’s bullet tried to silence the Dream — but instead, it moved a nation to act. We remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who dedicated himself to the pursuit of justice, opportunity, and dignity for all. Just two months after his assassination, the Houston Area Urban League was established. We carry his vision forward every day — not only through our work in social justice, but also in economic development, education, workforce training, housing stability, health equity, and entrepreneurship.

Your support allows us to turn that vision into real, lasting change across all our programs.

Houston Area Urban League will host its inaugural HAUL Day Of Giving celebration on Friday, April 4, 2025, from12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Come together with us to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the ongoing impact of the Houston Area Urban League—enjoy light bites and engaging conversation with some of Houston’s most inspiring leaders.

Through your generosity, we continue to break down barriers to opportunity—expanding access to careers, education, housing, health, and business ownership—keeping Dr. King’s dream alive and thriving.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 which will help support our programs that address the needs of residents in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, fostering growth, innovation and empowerment within the Greater Houston Community.
