Dates: Saturday, June 8 2024, 10am-4pm. Ticket: $65. Instructor: Judy Dominic. Materials fee: $5. Skills Needed: best if you already know how to twine, but all levels welcome. Class Limit: 12

Spend a fun day at the Weavers Guild starting with making a hat for your head! Using the basic basketry twining technique, create a perfect head covering for a summer day that fits and is styled exactly as you wish. Start with rattan reed and incorporate any naturals or other fillers you wish. Embellishments are up to you. Come prepared for a damp head while trying the hat on for fit. End the day showing off your lovely creation during the Guild’s trunk sale and potluck picnic!

Supplies to Bring:

apron,
kitchen shears,
old bath towel,
scrub bucket/water container,
2-6 spring-type clothespins,
ice pick or awl,
tape measure,
any embellishments wanted (e.g., feathers, buttons, beads, etc.) and the means to attach to the hat (e.g., needle/thread, hot glue, etc.)
$5 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Cash or check only accepted.

Depending on the CDC guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at [email protected] for permission before registering any minor in a class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
