About this Event
We will cover harvesting practices on seasonally available crops, food safety protocols, processing, weighing, packaging, and storage, as well as touch on the documentation needed to comply with FSMA and GAP standards.
Participants will work directly with UGC’s Harvest and Market Distribution Lead to learn the basic practices we use every day on the farm. We will then work in the field to gain first-hand experience moving through each step of the process, from prepping materials, harvesting in the field, processing, weighing, bundling/packaging, storing it, and recording the process. This workshop will prepare market growers and volunteers interested in supporting harvests at diverse small-scale vegetable farms.
Once completed, participants will be approved to volunteer on the farm to support our daily harvest and work towards a passport stamp recognizing their skills and experience.
