About this Event
SARATOGA CHAMBER PLAYERS presents “Harmonies of Verse and Voice” on September 29 - 3pm at the Saratoga United Methodist Church, 175 5th Avenue - Saratoga Springs
Join lovers of music and poetry for an innovative afternoon with Sibyl presenting musical versions of poems by Catullus, Emily Dickinson and Edna St. Vincent Millay,as well as Four Songs for Voice and Violin of Gustav Holst, and renditions of folk tunes.
Sibyl, a dynamic duo based in New York City, comprises sisters Chloe and Lily Holgate. Raised in a Saratoga Springs musical household, they have harmonized together since childhood, their classical training in voice, violin, and piano laying the groundwork for their freelance careers in NYC. When the pandemic halted their regular work, they turned to collaborative songwriting, resulting in a collection of original compositions and arrangements. Their music ranges from intimate to intense, with a captivating blend of familial harmony.Sibyl’s style is comprehensive, inclusive and not easily defined, an advantage that has brought Sibyl to perform in venues as diverse as NYC's The Bowery Electric to chamber music concert halls throughout the Northeast. Their song "Afternoon on a Hill" won WNYC's Public Song Contest in 2023, where it was broadcast on All of It with Alison Stewart and The Brian Lehrer Show.
