Franz Hackl — Austrian-born trumpeter, composer, brass instrument maker, and Harlem resident since 2002 — brings his genre-defying IDO Quartet to the Harlem Jazz Series on June 12, 2025. A graduate of the Vienna Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with trumpet legend Lew Soloff, Hackl has toured the world's greatest festival stages and jazz clubs for over twenty years. His IDO Quartet (IDO: "dialect for everybody") fuses Tyrolean folk music with jazz improvisation into something genuinely and joyfully new.
