Come and join us for a short-notice shindig this Saturday, 21st March, where some terrific artists will be donating their time and talent to help raise funds for the Sound Lounge. Patron and music writer Paul Sexton has curated the line-up, and says: “If you’re free this weekend and would like to join me in showing our love for and appreciation of the Sound Lounge and everything it does for our community, it would be wonderful to see you, and our brilliant team of staff and volunteers will make you as welcome as always. My special thanks go to the excellent musicians who’ll be performing on the night. And don’t forget that if you can’t make it, you can always donate to the venue here https://bit.ly/4sPctr8”.
General admission tickets for Hello Saturday! are Pay What Can Afford, starting with a free-entry option and seats (and standing) at all prices! Come early and show the venue even more love by sampling the wonderful plant-based menu and full bar.
We can look forward to performances by the following SL friends and favourites, and check back here later in the week, or on our socials, for the full line-up.
Sean Bright is a much-admired and frequent visitor to the Sound Lounge stage in a number of musical incarnations, including as a member of the Ladles, whose stirring sets have included two opening for Slim Chance in 2024 and 2025. With his heartfelt lyrics, great melodies and an engaging performing persona, Sean is also rising fast with his solo work and as frontman of the Rousings.
Dick Philpot is a seasoned singer-songwriter and a troubadour in the truest sense, who writes incisive lyrics about the world around him and in particular his south London roots. A former presenter of our Open Mic night, he’s also to be found at the already hugely popular Table 2 Sessions, which take place at the SL on Sunday afternoons once a month (next up on 29th March). Dick also had a key role in the Brian Wilson tribute night, curated by Paul, last July.
The Long Version are a new, pop-leaning roots-Americana trio fronted by bassist Tricia Davies Nearn, whose songwriting reflects her love of the ‘70s & ‘80s jangle-pop and soft rock she heard on AM radio during her childhood in Seattle. She’s joined by guitarist-vocalist Jon Heal, a true wordsmith and creative force with an ear for a tuneful riff, and by David Krupski, who contributes deft drums and dad jokes. The band’s fine debut album ‘Late Bloomer’ is out this Friday, 20th March, the day before they join us, and is produced by another great British singer and writer, Peter Bruntnell.
Doors are at 7pm and we’ll get started on the live music at around 8.15pm.
