Aaron Shneyer’s music weaves together influences from across the world, aiming to celebrate life and heal our divides. In 2008, a Fulbright-MTVu Fellowship to study music’s power to build mutual-understanding took him to Jerusalem where he formed www.heartbeat.fm, an organization that brings together and empowers Israeli and Palestinian youth musicians. Am Kolel is an independent Jewish community dedicated to Jewish renewal by addressing spiritual needs in a welcoming, inclusive manner and responding to issues facing society with a progressive Jewish presence. Am Kolel means "an inclusive people." We celebrate the spiritual warmth of Judaism in a form that is joyful and personal. We reflect the ideals and principles of the Jewish Renewal Movement.

DC Musical Shabbat offers welcoming, joyful, and nourishing Shabbat experiences, centering music, singing and community. Organized by parents of young children who came together seeking vibrant, creative, and inclusive Jewish experiences for our children and ourselves, our gatherings are open to all and emphasize exciting and meaningful points of connection between young families, many of whom have settled in Washington, DC’s Ward 4. We aim to provide our children with a fun and dynamic Shabbat experience that grounds them in Jewish culture, values, and tradition while offering adults a space to connect and renew through heart-opening song.

DC Musical Shabbat is funded by The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
