What: Reverse Coed 4s Grass Volleyball Tournament on a big court

Where: Henry Anderson Community III Park in Carrboro, NC

Important Details:
- We will again be doing everything we can to limit it to 4 team pools only. We will have 8 teams for each division but after that it’s extremely likely we will only allow additional teams in once we have 4 teams on the waitlist. In other words, waiting until the last minute to signup it may mean you don’t make it into the tournament. We have turned away multiple teams each tournament, so signup early.
- RevCo 4s format will be: big court, block DOES NOT count as a touch and otherwise normal FIVB outdoor 2s volleyball rules, and the let service rule WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT. Please note that we play with standard 2s rules for 4s and have certain modification for 4s that are announced/distributed in advance of the tournament.
- Team composition for RevCo 4s is 2 guys and 2 girls. Due to the overwhelming amount of complaining last year when we let two teams play with 3 guys, we are no longer going to let any teams play with any composition other than 2 guys and 2 girls unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances. Sorry… 🤷‍♂️
- We will be at Anderson Community Park in Carrboro, NC. The address is 302 NC Highway 54 West, Chapel Hill, NC. We will be at Multi-Purpose Field 1.
- The ball of choice will be the Wilson Optx. We will provide court balls.
- Registration will end at 11:59 p.m. on the Wednesday before the tournament. Any registrations after this time will be allowed in at our sole discretion and not all divisions will be available. We will prioritize efficiency of the tournament over maximizing total teams.
- Payment for the entire team is due by 12:00 p.m. on the Friday before the tournament and if your team is not paid in full you will be dropped from the tournament. We offer full refunds for any reason or no reason at all until 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the tournament. Payment amounts and options are the same for the past 5 years:
A/AA is $35 per player and Open is $40 per player.

- Which Division to Play/Sandbagging
Our rules are very simple when it comes to determining which division you should play in: you play at the highest level of any player. An Open player playing with 3 A players. They play Open. 3 A players playing with an AA player. They play AA. And so on.
This is the general rule you should default to every single time you sign up for one of our tournaments. Can there be exceptions to this general rule? Absolutely, but you have to clear it with us in ADVANCE of signing up. We are really easy to get in touch with and are extremely responsive (just ask anyone who has messaged us).
At our tournaments, we generally take everyone to playoffs and do an upper and lower for each division (obviously it depends on the total number of entries). In other words, you are going to play a ton of volleyball no matter what your record is, so why would you not sign up in the right (or a higher) division and make sure you get some good reps in? How you get better is playing against players as good or better than you.
- Overview of Divisions
A is our lowest division. It is reserved for players that are generally new to volleyball or have some other limiting factor(s) such as age, injury, etc. If you are 22, currently play club at college and play 5 times a week, then you are not an A player. If you are 45, play maybe 1 time a month, throw your back out getting out of bed, then you probably will be fine in A. There will be NO cash payouts in A other than your entry fee back.
AA is our middle division. In theory, this should be our largest division for every tournament (and has historically been until the last several years) and should consist of the widest band of skill sets. That 22-year-old playing 5 times a week? That’s an AA player. That “aging” 35-year-old woman who used to play Open but now can only play maybe 1 time a week is probably going to be fine in AA.
Open is our highest division. This is generally going to consist of former D1 athletes and others who are playing all the time. If you play Open or AA (and make playoffs consistently) at other tournaments, you probably should play Open in our tournaments.
We recognize that the competition level at other tournaments can, at times, be higher than ours. Just because you have never won A at a tournament doesn’t automatically mean you are an A player. Using common sense goes a long way and, if all else fails, just message us and ask.
