In this workshop Ruth-Ann Mitchell will introduce you to traditional tools, materials and techniques to create a sewn binding, hard cover book.

Ruth-Ann Mitchell grew up on a farm in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. Some of her earliest memories are connected to books and to the woods and fields around her home. While completing a Master of Library Science degree at the University of British Columbia she took a course called The Book Arts which explored the history of printing, books and book design thus beginning a fascination with the physical book. In 1979 she traded the west coast for the east coast eventually settling in Albert County in 1990. She has been happily exploring various book making techniques and formats for the past 20 years.
