This hands-on class explores two essential floral design techniques in one creative, social workshop designed to build confidence and unleash creativity. First, experience the art of the European-style hand-tied bouquet. There’s a special magic in crafting a bouquet in your hands and, with a graceful turn, placing it into a vase for a perfectly balanced arrangement, or tying off with satin ribbon for a nosegay. This timeless technique is used for relaxed, textural bridal bouquets, home arrangements, wedding centerpieces, garden bouquets, and thoughtful hostess gifts. After a detailed demonstration, you’ll create your own hand-tied bouquet. Then, using the same materials, you’ll transition those flowers into a centrifugal vase arrangement, focusing on layering foliage and blooms for balance, movement, and structure. The centrifugal vase arrangement uses the shape of the vase and greens to establish an ecologically robust natural mechanic for your floral designs.
Discover the joy of floral arranging in this creative workshop series led by Lorraine Walsh and Mary Lou Ashur of Artistry Floral, With backgrounds rooted in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and a passion for eco-conscious design, Lorraine and Mary Lou bring a wealth of experience and artistry to each session.
Each hands-on class explores floral design fundamentals—from developing structure and balance to working confidently with color, texture, and movement.
