The Sunny Side Up Children’s Film Festival is coming to Hamilton these April school holidays!Designed especially for children aged 5–12 (but welcoming to all ages), this joyful, high-energy event showcases the magic of animated short films. Each 90-minute session features a carefully curated selection of award-winning short films, made for kids and guaranteed to entertain.
Between films, the fun continues with interactive games like Heads & Tails and Guess the Amount in the Jar, plus plenty of chances to win prizes. Kids are encouraged to get involved, have a laugh, and enjoy a cinema experience that’s anything but quiet and boring.
The festival is hosted and run by Milli Banbury, a 14-year-old festival director, who introduces the films and leads the games throughout the session. Sunny Side Up has been running successfully in Tauranga for four years and is expanding to a national tour in 2026, bringing its much-loved format to new cities across Aotearoa.
