Please join us for a special pack walk in honor of National Pit Bull Awareness Day and to celebrate Halloween! "The National Pit Bull Awareness Campaign is a nationwide effort to bring positive awareness and attention to the American Pit Bull Terrier. The heart of the campaign is National Pit Bull Awareness Day (NPBAD).
For us, NPBAD is an opportunity to be a positive role model for responsible dog ownership, as well as show that a grouping of dogs commonly referred to as "pit bulls" can walk peacefully in a busy area like Lake Merritt in Oakland.
So, we'll be walking at one of our most popular pack walk locations - Lake Merritt in Oakland.
MEETING SPOT: Corner of El Embarcadero & Lakeshore Blvd. And if you need an address to map it, you can use the Cafe Lakeview address (right across the street): 2834 Lakeshore Ave, Oakland, CA 94610. Parking isn't great, so plan to come early to look for parking and check out the lot underneath 580 Freeway. We will start walking by 9:15am sharp!
Some of our adoptable dogs will be in attendance and all breeds welcome! Use these walks to socialize your dogs, ask our trainer questions, or even scope out a new friend for your existing pup. We will have new merchandise for sale as well!
Costume contest and prizes for those that come dressed up for Halloween.
Please be respectful of other dogs' space and ask before you let your dog greet another dog. Remember to bring poop bags and water for you and your pups. Also Flexi-leads are not permitted and only 6ft leashes or shorter.
This is our annual pack walk fundraiser, so we are asking for a $20 suggested donation for this walk (although we will not turn anyone away).
