ITS HAITIAN HERITAGE MONTH!
as the first Black republic to gain its independence from enslavement and european colonialism through revolution, we owe so many thanks and praises to the land of ayiti, and can look to its history as we seek strength in our resistance today. come take a dive into this strength through the spiritually and physically powerful art of haitian folkloric dance, taught by the wonderful and knowledgable Brianna Pierre Georges.
Brianna Pierre-Georges is a Miami-born dancer of Haitian descent whose training began in elementary and middle school magnet programs before continuing at RickyDanco School of Dance. Brianna has continued to deepen her connection to culture and community through her work with NSL Danse Ensemble directed by Nancy St Leger, sharing Haitian folklore throughout the country. She now represents Haitian culture through Asaho Dance Company and Arts founded by Fabiola Auguste. She also teaches Afro-Haitian dance, blending tradition, history, and creative expression. Currently, Brianna is pursuing her Associate of Arts in Dance at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus training under Professor Michelle Grant Murray. She serves as President of the Jubilation Dance Ensemble, leading with courage and purpose. She also dances with Olujimi Dance Collective founded by Michelle Grant Murray, focusing on stories of Blackness and Black womanhood. Deeply committed to cultural preservation and artistic growth, Brianna hopes to continue traveling throughout Africa and the African diaspora to study, train, and expand her understanding of dance philosophies—not just the movement, but the meaning behind it.

EVERYBODY DANCE is for conversation and community building. Yes, at times we need to escape the world for a bit. This can be that space. But you are welcomed and encouraged to bring the world into this space with you. We face this world together. We process this world together.
