About this Event
Fundraising for Edinburgh Fringe 2026
Being a creative of Eritrean descent, I grew up never seeing any representation of my culture in arts or media. I want to be one of the people who can change this, and so my one-woman spoken word play ADEY ኣደይ was born. I have written many poems about my mother and her Eritrean identity, as well as our relationship, and have now created a play from these works. I have had two runs already: the first being at London Bubble for their project MAKE SPACE and the second time, as a part of the Camden Fringe Festival. This year, I am looking to take my show to Edinburgh Fringe - the largest arts festival in Europe. As you can imagine; it requires a lot, financially, mentally and physically - so what better way to raise the funds than a Habesha themed Open Mic night?
I want to platform Habesha creatives and give them a chance to shine and share their stories, as this is so rarely done for us and isn't encouraged by our family members. So, it would be my pleasure to host you all at London Bubble on March 27th, giving everyone the opportunity to connect and network with some Habesha creatives, as well as support me on my journey with building my one-woman show ADEY ኣደይ.
Thank you so much!
