Shelanu is excited to host Habe’er! HaBe'er is a unique musical collaboration bringing together Melbourne-based artists for an intimate evening of rich cultural expression.
Blending Mizrahi and Sephardic songs in Hebrew and English with jazz and world rhythms, the program draws inspiration from the sounds of 1980s Tel Aviv. Once shared on cassette tapes, these songs carry deep emotional resonance, telling stories of love, hardship, and longing.
Featuring a vibrant ensemble of local musicians, Yuval Ashkar (oud, vocals), Adam Starr (guitar, bass), Paddy Montgomery (violin, bouzouki), George El-Azzar (percussion), Lihee Ashkar (vocals), and Noy Ben Ami (guitar, vocals), this performance creates a dynamic dialogue between East and West.
