Gwil and RichBack at Mary Street!
We're going full-on south Austin house party.
Gather at 7:30
Music starts around 8
Gwil is back from Nashville for a short visit and we are fortunate to have him and Rich back at Sessions On Mary!
Gwil’s songs have been covered by Irma Thomas, Little Feat, and Jack Ingram, among others. The song "Deuce and a Quarter" (co-written with Kevin Gordon) was recorded by Keith Richards and Levon Helm for the album All The Kings Men. He was an Academy Award nominee in 1999 for the song "A Soft Place to Fall" (co-written with Allison Moorer) featured in Robert Redford's movie The Horse Whisperer.
But in Austin we know Gwil as the master behind many of Toni Price's most requested songs such as "Nothing But Heartache," "Hey," "Tumbleweed," and 32 more of your favorites.
Rich is found early on Sundays at El Mercado with the Purgatory Players and Sunday evenings at the Saxon Pub with Ulla. During the week Rich is wearing all the hats at his Ace Recording Studio. The centerpiece of his career is a 25-year stint with the Robert Earl Keen band, touring, playing, and producing records.
But in Austin we know Rich as a founder of the Hippie Hour with Toni Price at the Continental Club who continued the legacy with Toni at the Devil’s Backbone Tavern.
Gwil and Rich are performing two nights, Friday and Saturday January 3 and 4. Doors at 7:30 and Show at 8.
