Free Week Returns to Red River!Join us January 3–4, 2025 for Austin’s favorite admission-free winter music festival, set to fill downtown Austin with dozens of free concert from local performers across 10+ venues.
Founded 20+ years ago in 2003, Free Week began at the legendary Emo’s original location near 6th and Red River Street to keep clubs’ lights on and staff working during the historically slower winter months. Red River Cultural District currently serves as a principal organizer locally with its multi-venue downtown fest although many venues across Austin regularly participate each January.
Although each Free Week event is free to attendees, all festival performances are paid opportunities for artists curated in cooperation with each venue, and supported through corporate sponsors and public donations. Donations to the Red River Cultural District are accepted year-round via www.redriverculturaldistrict.org and as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, all donations are tax-deductible.
