Cyflwyniad i Dechnegau Cerrig, Peintio a Rhwd ar gyfer Dylunio Set
Nod y Sesiwn:
Arfogi cyfranogwyr gyda sgiliau ymarferol a gwybodaeth weithredol o wead golygfaol a phaentio ar gyfer dynwared materol o gerrig a rhwd. Addas i'w ddefnyddio mewn setiau theatr, dylunio ffilm a theledu.
Amcanion Dysgu:
Erbyn diwedd y sesiwn hon, bydd cyfranogwyr yn gallu:
- Deall technegau paratoi arwyneb a'r deunyddiau / offer allweddol a ddefnyddir mewn gorffeniadau golygfaol.
- Creu amrywiaeth o weadau cerrig gan ddefnyddio technegau golygfaol ymarferol
- Cymysgwch a chymhwyso paent yn effeithiol i greu cerrig a rhwd realistig oedrannus neu hindreuliedig.
- Gweithredu technegau gweadu sylfaenol i ganolradd ar gyfer creu cerrig ffug gan ddefnyddio trywel a rholeri.
- Gwerthuso a mireinio eu gorffeniadau golygfaol ar gyfer realaeth a chysondeb o dan oleuadau llwyfan / ffilm.

Dulliau Asesu:
- Adborth ffurfiannol trwy gydol y sesiwn (cyfoedion a thiwtor)
- Cwblhau tasg ymarferol: dau banel sampl (carreg + rhwd) y gall cyfranogwyr fynd â nhw adref i'w defnyddio cyfeirio a phortffolio.
- Hunanfyfyrio: trafodaeth grŵp a rownd adborth ar ddiwedd y sesiwn

Dechreuodd yn CTS fel artist golygfaol 25 mlynedd yn ôl a gwnaeth gwrs TAR yn 2005. Ers hynny wedi mynd yn gweithio ar ei liwt ei hun i theatr yn Ne Cymru ac wedi bod yn diwtor gwadd yn CBCDC. Hoff beth yw paentio backcloths mawr.

Mae wedi bod yn gweithio ar ei liwt ei hun gyda CTS fel artist golygfaol a gwneuthurwr ers 2023, ar ôl gweithio mewn amrywiaeth o weithdai eraill ar ôl graddio o Goleg. Ei hoff orffeniadau i baentio yw effeithiau rwst a trompe-l'œil.

Course Title: Foundations of Scenic Texturing and Painted Effects.
Introduction to Stone, Painting and Rust Techniques for Set Design
CULT Cymru Skills Course: Stone, Painting &Rust
Aim of the Session:
To equip participants with hands-on skills and working knowledge of scenic texturing and painting for material imitation of stone and rust. Suitable for use in theatre sets, film and TV design.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand surface preparation techniques and the key materials/tools used in scenic finishes.
- Create a variety of stone textures using practical scenic techniques
- Mix and apply paint effectively to create realistic aged or weathered stone and rust.
- Execute basic to intermediate texturing techniques for faux stone creation using trowels and rollers.
- Evaluate and refine their scenic finishes for realism and consistency under stage/film lighting.
Target Audience:
Freelancers and creatives new to film, TV, and theatre, especially scenic artists, set painters, or production designers seeking hands-on scenic finishing skills.
Assessment Methods:
- Formative feedback throughout the session (peer and tutor)
- Practical task completion: two sample panels (stone + rust) that participants can take home for reference and portfolio use.
- Self-reflection: group discussion and feedback round at end of session
- Optional: participants photograph and submit their work for follow-up feedback
Sarah Parry
Started at CTS as a scenic artist 25 years ago and did a PGCE course in 2005. Have since gone freelance working for theatre in South Wales and have been a visiting tutor at RWCMD. Favourite thing is to paint large backcloths.
Clare Johnson
Has been freelancing with CTS as a scenic artist and maker since 2023, after working in a range of other workshops following graduation from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2019 with a degree in Design for Performance. Favourite finishes to paint include rust effects and trompe-l'œil.

Cancellation and Refunds Policy
A full refund will be issued to delegates who cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Delegates who cancel within the 2 week period will not be eligible for a refund unless we are able to find someone else to take their place. Please let us know as soon as possible if you find you're no longer able to attend the workshop.
