Practical information
Location

The Anne Frank Center is located on the corner of Barnwell Street and College Street at 1731 College Street, Columbia, SC 29208.

Preparation

Our partner, the Anne Frank House, offers a free introductory online 28-minute video suitable for most ages. Please note: the video is not part of, or necessary for, the guided tour - but it can enrich your tour experience. The video will not be available onsite at the Anne Frank Center.

Payment

We have a suggested donation of $10 for most patrons. University of South Carolina students, faculty and staff are free. We have a donation box to receive cash and checks on site. Checks can be made to "University of South Carolina". You may also make your contribution online at https://donate.sc.edu/annefrankcenter.

Age Recommendation

We recommend children under the age of 12 refrain from visiting the exhibit as much of the material can be disturbing for young children.

Security Procedures

Our team will unlock the front door to welcome the visiting patrons at the designated tour time. Please have identification (driver's license, Carolina Card) handy for staff to confirm your visit. Per university campus event policy, no bags can be brought into the Anne Frank Center.

Parking

Please allow time to park and walk, as parking can be scarce on campus. When classes are in session, patrons may have to walk several blocks.

  • METERS are available on Barnwell St., between Gervais St. and College St., with more along Senate Street. Nearby University garages are Close-Hipp Garage and Pendleton Street Garage.
  • HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE SPACES are available on College Street, Capstone Surface Lot, and Close Hipp Garage.
  • FOR LARGE GROUPS (12+ patrons), please contact University Parking Services at 803-777-5160 to coordinate a parking reservation.

Accessibility and Accommodations

We are eager to support patrons with any accommodations that can improve their experience. The Anne Frank Center is wheelchair accessible, and can add extra seating to the exhibition rooms if standing for prolonged periods (25+ mins) is difficult.

Please indicate on your registration if you have handicap accessibility or additional seating needs. We are happy to accommodate!

About the Anne Frank Center
The Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina is the official U.S. Partner of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, and the only partner site in North America.

The Anne Frank Center brings to life the story of the young Jewish girl who – in the pages of her world-renowned diary – documented two years of hiding in German-occupied Amsterdam during World War II.

By sharing Anne's legacy with visitors, students and teachers, the Anne Frank Center seeks to inspire our commitment to never be bystanders but instead to stand up together against antisemitism, bigotry and inequality wherever it may exist today.
