Join Golden Eagle Audubon for a scenic field trip to the Great Blue Heron and Double-crested Cormorant rookery. Our walk follows the river through a beautiful stretch of riparian habitat, offering opportunities to observe a variety of birds and enjoy the landscape along the way.
As we make our way toward the rookery, we’ll keep an eye out for bird species that frequent the river corridor, including buffleheads, mergansers, and raptors like Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, American Kestrels, and Bald Eagles. The trail begins on a paved path before transitioning to a gravel path that winds along the water, with peaceful views and natural surroundings throughout the walk.
The outing is approximately 3 miles round trip, making it a comfortable, unhurried walk with plenty of time to stop, observe, and appreciate these impressive colonial nesters and the wildlife that share their habitat.
