Immersive performance inviting people to care for one another through geographical distance or cultural differences.
Guayabo (Venezuelan slang for “heartbreak”) is a grief party connecting people in the UK with Ania Varez's family in Venezuela, who are immersed in the severe humanitarian crisis of the country, through the long-distance exchange of rituals of celebration and grief.
Using poetry, film, Whatsapp messages and collective actions, Guayabo becomes a meeting point to recognise together the reality of migration and its hardship, the perseverance and richness of our common losses and the opportunities found in facing grief collectively.

Panel chat, 3.30pm-4.30pm, Free to attend:
How does it feel to be a migrant artist or an artist
collaborating with migrants making performance work in the UK today?
Ania Varez, Laila Diallo, Howl Yuen and Caroline
Williams, who have experiences of migration or have collaborated with migrants, will come together in conversation. Come along to hear their stories and spend some time thinking about the complexities and richness of creating performances that embrace migration.
