❄️ Winter Semester ❄️ February 3 - April 25, 2026
- WHEN & WHERE
The Winter Semester will begin on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and will run until April 25, 2026. Classes will meet every week at 32 Prince St (Soho).
- PARTICIPANTS
With the exception of the courses specifically dedicated to children, all other courses are designed for adults. Parents of teens who may wish to enroll their children in any of the courses offered should enquire about availability and permission to register.
- CLASS SIZE & REQUIREMENTS
Italian, English, and Latin Language Classes
• Minimum number of Students per course: 7
• Maximum number of Students per course: 12
U.S. Citizenship Preparation Class & Italian Kitchen Experience Class
• Minimum number of students per course: 7
• Maximum number of students per course: 18
Group Piano Classes for Kids
• Minimum number of students per course: 3
• Maximum number of students per course: 4
Group Piano Classes for Adults
• Minimum number of students per course: 3
• Maximum number of students per course: 6
Courses will be closed once the maximum number of students is reached. Courses will be canceled if the minimum number of students is not reached five days before the scheduled start of classes. If GTF cancels a course for any reason, your donation, minus any Eventbrite fees, will be given back.
Out of respect for your professors and fellow students, we ask participants to attend regularly. If more than two of the first five classes are missed, we recommend not continuing with the course.
If you want to register for more than one course, please note that you are expected to attend all classes for each course.
- COURSE ENROLLMENT
To enroll in the classes, please secure your spot by registering on Eventbrite. To make your course selection, and for more details, please be guided by the table below and the course description available in the 'Agenda' section, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The actual cost for the Grow Together Foundation to run each course is approximately:
• $200 per person for the Italian Through Theater Class for Children (age 5-10)
• $250 per person for Italian, Latin, and English language classes, including the Italian Through Theater Class for Adults
• $400 per person for the U.S. Citizenship Preparation course, the Italian Kitchen Experience course and the Piano Course for Children and Adults.
The amount you choose to donate is up to you.
In order to keep our programs accessible to everyone, we rely on the generosity and support of those who are able to donate. We truly appreciate any generosity you can offer. Your donation helps cover the costs associated with running the program and allows us to continue offering these classes to the community.

- WAITING LIST
If the course you selected is at capacity, you may place your name on the waiting list for that course. We will notify you if an opening occurs.
- INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The course-specific syllabus will be provided on the first day of class, and the instructor will notify you of any supplies you may need.
- MAKE-UP CLASSES
If you miss a class, speak with the course instructor to receive guidance and any material that may have been distributed in class. If you feel that you need to arrange a make-up class, you may book it directly with your instructor.

- PHOTOGRAPHIC RELEASE
Participants will be required to sign a Photographic Release Form at the start of the course. Photos taken during classes may be used for internal, educational, or promotional purposes, including websites, social media, and printed materials.

Italian Beginner I (A1/A2) - Group 1 | Tuesday 10:00-11:15am

Info: The Beginner I (A1/A2) course is designed for students who have already been introduced to the Italian language and are beginning to use the language in familiar situations.
What to expect after attending all the sessions and doing the assignments:
Participants will be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g., very basic personal and family information, studying, making calls, and dinner with friends).
Will be able to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

English Conversation | Tuesday 11:30-12:45pm
Host: Prof. L. Hayden-Findlay
Info: This is an introductory English conversation course. Its goal is to promote basic conversational skills and personal confidence when beginning to speak English. Classes will focus on specific topics around which students can learn new vocabulary, colloquial, and idiomatic expressions. Grammatical points will be explained/clarified as they are encountered during class discussion. Students will also work on their pronunciation on an as needed basis.

Italian Beginner II (A2) - Group 1 | Tuesday 11:30am-12:45pm

Info: The Beginner II (A2) course builds on the foundation established in the previous two courses.
What to expect after attending all the sessions and doing the assignments:
Participants will be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Will be able to describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in community, work, leisure, etc.

U.S. Citizenship Preparation Class | Tuesday & Thursday 6:00-8:00pm
Host: Prof. L. Hayden-Findlay
Info: This 10-week class meets twice a week (20 sessions) and will prepare participants to pass the 2025 version of the U.S. Citizenship test.
Who should take this class:
• Anyone who has a test appointment in April 2026 or beyond.
• Anyone who is eligible* to apply for a test appointment.
• Anyone who needs to retake the test having not passed it before.

What the course will cover:
The interview and test process.
• Review of all 128 questions and answers.
• Practice reading and writing targeted sentences.
• The history behind the questions and follow up discussions.
• Access to a variety of study materials.
Participants must have a high-intermediate level or higher in speaking, reading, writing, and listening in English.

Will be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions.

To improve your Italian, theater is perfect for creating this kind of atmosphere and turning learning into a unique and engaging experience!
This course uses theatrical exercises, improvisations, and role-playing to help you speak with greater confidence, fluency, and expressiveness. We will stage real and cultural situations, working on pronunciation, intonation, and emotions.
No theatrical experience is necessary, just the desire to learn and have fun!

Info: The Novice (A1) course is designed for students who are approaching the study of Italian for the first time.
What to expect after attending all the sessions and doing the assignments:
Participants will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at social interaction of informal type.
They will be able to introduce themselves and others and ask/answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know and things they like to do.

Info: The Advanced I (B1/B2) course is designed for individuals who are well on the way to develop proficiency in the Italian language.
What to expect after attending all the sessions and doing the assignments:
Participants will be able to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. They will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Participants will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Info: This fun and engaging 10-hour course introduces young learners to the basics of the Italian language. Through songs, games, stories, and creative activities, children will learn essential vocabulary, simple phrases, and basic expressions.
