About this Event
GROWTESQUE centers on our relationship to land and the mythology of perpetual economic growth—questioning what it means to flourish ecologically and socially in a time of collapse and transition. The exhibition itself serves as a platform for climate activism, not only through discourse but also through action: a portion of sales will support tactical land conservation efforts in partnership with a wildlife conservation nonprofit.
On September 25th we welcome Angelina Gualdoni and Madeleine Thompson to discuss the practice of codifying elements of nature, delving deep into scientific and conceptual interpretations of biomatter- from the early documentation of deep sea creatures in the 1900s to our human impact on the geological record unfolding in the present. This talk explores the partnership between artists and scientists to make the invisible visible in the popular imagination.
