Join local herbalist and herbal gardener, Lauren Snyder to learn all about growing and harvesting your own medicinal herbs. We'll discuss things like sourcing seeds, growing, harvesting, and storing herbs, and general garden needs for a joyful and successful herbal garden! We'll cover some of the more common useful herbs that grow well in our local climate and each participant will get the opportunity to start a few of their very own herbal seeds! Come to class ready to dig in (pun intended) as we learn, plant, and grow some herbal garden goodness together!
Lauren is a queer herbalist and botanical artisan who is passionate about bringing people and plants together through cultivation and creativity. The third generation of their family to live in the Ojai Valley, Lauren grew up with a deep connection to the land, plants, and ecosystems there. Throughout life, Lauren discovered that no matter what she did, all roads lead back to the plants. Whether it was in the garden, piled amongst a binder full of herbalism notes, woven into the threads of floral embroidery, or captured in the words of poetry; the plants were always there as guides, teachers, and healers. Lauren is the owner and founder of Thimble and Seed; a botanical boutique with an array of herbal creations that inspires others to find their own ways to explore the wisdom and whimsy of the plant world.
